Dr. Seema Pai
ISCR President
Greetings from the ISCR President’s desk!
As we celebrate ISCR's 20th anniversary in 2025, I am thrilled and honored to lead our prestigious organization at such a pivotal moment. India has truly come a long way since conducting late-phase clinical trials in the early 2000s. Today, we pride ourselves on our advancements, such as developing our indigenous CAR-T cell therapy and engaging in numerous global, local, academic, government-sponsored, and indigenous trials over the last 25 years.
The emphasis on quality, completeness, and speed in our trials has been instrumental in establishing global trust in the data generated from India. This trust has led to the submission of important molecules that have transformed the lives of millions of patients worldwide. The establishment of global capability centers by several international and local companies in India is a testament to our nation's talent and highlights our significant contributions to the global clinical development community.
Patient centricity remains at the core of ISCR's mission, and all stakeholders continue to collaborate to foster and strengthen the clinical research environment within India. I am confident that the invaluable learnings from the past several years have united all stakeholders, enabling us to develop capabilities across various therapeutic areas to better serve patients both in India and globally.
Our unwavering focus on ethics in clinical research, participant safety, regulatory processes, and government policies surrounding the clinical trial ecosystem will persist. Additionally, we are committed to adopting innovative methods to support our clinical trial sites and stakeholders in advancing trials within India.
Our partnerships with institutions, regulatory bodies, patients, patient advocates, global and local stakeholders, and other similarly aligned organizations will be crucial in expanding our footprint through our councils, chapters, and workstreams. In response to current needs, we will introduce a new clinical operations council and several workstreams dedicated to contemporary topics such as translational research, AI-ML, SMOs, site development, digitization of our training modules, patient centricity, GCP, and CRC training.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sanish Davis and our outgoing Executive Committee, as well as the Council/Chapter Chairs and Workstream leads, for their invaluable contributions to ISCR over the past term.
